Chief Financial Officer, Matthew Shapiro

Matthew Shapiro is a senior in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown, majoring in International Political Economy with a focus on East Asia and economic development. Although his duties as Executive Director for the "monumental" 47th conference of NAIMUN are completed, Matt still keeps busy by nestling up with the latest economic and Chinese news, working (trying again to work...) for a small international development firm, walking backward around campus for Georgetown’s tour guide organization, fanning his obsession with Apple products, and taking his love of conference planning to other fields by serving as the Long Term Development Chair on the Steering Committee of the tenth annual Carroll Round, Georgetown's international undergraduate economic conference. Now he is extremely excited to round off his four-year experience with GIRA by serving as its Chief Financial Officer and helping to bring the organization to exciting, new frontiers.

Amy has served on the Board of Directors of GIRA's sister, the International Relations Club, since her freshman year of college (as Director of Development and subsequently as Treasurer), as well as on the Senior Staff of both of GIRA's conferences, but she is honored to now serve as the Chief Operations Officer of the Georgetown International Relations Association, Inc. When not engaged in GIRA activities, which is seldom enough, Amy enjoys crossword puzzles, learning bits and pieces of other languages, and playing with HTML. Amy's first loves are water-skiing, ethnic cuisines, and The Economist, but Model UN is close behind.

Prior to her appointment, Hijab served on the board of the Georgetown International Relations Club as the Director of Communications. She is also a coordinator for the Georgetown New Student Orientation program and a member of the university’s South Asian theatre troupe, Awaaz.
